Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we will work well together?

Choosing a therapist can be a challenging and at times daunting experience and I know that it is important that you find someone that you feel comfortable with.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, where we can discuss any concerns or questions you may have about starting therapy and explore your individual needs and the ways in which we might best work together to achieve them.

What can I expect from the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to discuss the different approaches that we could take to our work together and for you to ask any further questions that you may have about therapy. You will also be able to experience my counselling style, as we begin to explore the topics that are important to you, working at a pace that feels comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

This is something we will explore in the first session, since each client is a unique person with their own personal issues. Some people may find what they need from therapy in the short term (over 6-12 sessions) whilst for others, therapy may involve an extended period of work. I recommend that initially we should look to meet on a weekly basis and to regularly review our sessions. This way we can monitor and maintain the effectiveness of our time together whilst maximising the benefits to you.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am an insured practitioner with an enhanced DBS certificate and a full membership of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I am ethically committed to providing the most therapeutic experience that I can to everyone.

Are my sessions confidential?

Yes, essentially our work together is a private conversation between two people. Whilst I respect the autonomy of the individual, within the BACP Ethical Framework there are a few situations, mainly around safeguarding yourself and others, in which I may need to break confidentiality. These circumstances are clearly identified in our contract together and can be discussed in our initial meeting.

As laid out in the BACP ethical framework, I regularly attend my own supervision with another therapist (who works to the same ethical guidelines as myself), where I am able to review my work in order to provide the best therapeutic experience that I can to all my clients.

Who do you work with?

I work with all adults over 18 and couples.

How much does therapy cost?

My fee is £55 for individuals and £80 for couples per 50-minute session. I offer a discount to students and all adults under the age of 25.

What are your working hours?

I work flexible hours, Monday to Saturday. My aim is to make myself available at mutually agreed times that are convenient to you.
